◉ Met Office
The Met Office's own embedded mountain-weather widget connects to the Met Office when online. If it doesn't load, use the official link. The forecast covers its published dates, not automatically the date chosen in Electric Atlas.
Your complete wild-camping expedition planner. Adjust kit, meals, water and terrain to see how the whole adventure changes.
Set the day, plan your stop before sunset, then adjust route sliders to see the necessary departure.
Choose a date, decide when you want to be at camp, and let the route determine your necessary departure.
Astronomical sun times at the selected route point, not visible light on steep ground. Mountains, cloud, wind and route delays can reduce usable light. Treat the schedule as a planning estimate, not a safe start or campsite approval.
The selected camp split is a planning point, not a verified or permitted campsite. Your imported GPX route geometry remains unchanged if you edit total distance or ascent sliders.

Mountain Weather Information Service
Check the latest Lake District summit winds, risk of cloud on tops, precipitation, wind chill and visibility. The official forecast and latest multi-day PDF open directly on MWIS.
MWIS does not provide a public, documented embeddable forecast feed here. No current MWIS conditions are invented or silently copied into this app.
Review the latest issued forecasts for your actual date, route and elevations. Record your judgement below. Neither provider has issued a GO recommendation through Electric Atlas.
Mountain conditions can change faster than forecasts, and valleys may differ greatly from high ridges. A green personal decision is not a safety certification. Never rely on an old forecast or the app alone to decide whether to go.
The numbers update as you edit any other page.
The load adjustment is illustrative and modest. Food choices drive calories and carbohydrate more than they should drive pace decisions.
Owned items are identified; optional or placeholder weights remain clearly marked.
| Take | Equipment | Mass (g) | Carry | Confidence |

Your original checklist, expanded with a dedicated WAG-bag and hand-hygiene kit. Progress is saved independently for each expedition.
Unverified weights remain excluded from the known-mass subtotal.
A tick means physically packed or ready to wear. It does not change equipment weight. Use “Not taking” to remove an item from progress without deleting it. Linked equipment masses are counted once; unlinked item weights contribute when entered. If a combined kit is still in your inventory, split it before assigning separate item weights.
Older Jetboil, fast-boil only, no simmer. Exact model still to verify against its maximum fill line.
Fuel baseline is approximately 100 g per 10 L boiled for many Jetboil systems under test conditions. An adjustable field factor accounts for colder water, wind and other losses. Drinking water filtered or UV-treated without heating uses no stove gas. The 100 g canister figure means net gas contents, not the total mass of the full metal canister. Weigh the full canister separately if you split the combined kit.
Gelling waste bags for delicate fell-top ground. Vargo Dig Dig trowel is optional for a separate legal, appropriate cathole method.
Enter the complete empty WAG-kit mass in grams in the checklist below. WAG kits may already include tissue, a wipe and an outer bag, so mark any duplicates Not taking.
After use: seal the inner and outer bags, keep isolated from food and drinking supplies, and dispose of using the kit manufacturer's directions and local rules. Never bury a WAG bag, toilet paper or wipes.
Handwash after toileting and before handling food. Gel is useful when washing isn't possible, but doesn't replace soap and clean water.
The water allowance is counted within the Fuel & Water planner, not added to pack weight a second time. Choose a realistic personal allowance and verify available clean water.
Technique: soap and clean water, rub all surfaces for around 20 seconds, rinse and dry; collect your used drying tissues. Use at least 60% alcohol gel when hands aren't visibly dirty. Sanitiser is less reliable against norovirus. Wash away from streams and tarns; don't empty soapy water into them.
Sawyer Squeeze removes many waterborne bacteria and protozoa, but should not be relied on for viruses. A functioning SteriPEN UV purifier can inactivate viruses, bacteria and protozoa when used according to its model instructions in sufficiently clear water. It does not remove chemicals or sediment. Clarify dirty water first, check lamp and batteries, and follow the correct volume/time for your specific model. Add its actual weight in the Kitchen checklist.
Add an item to any category. Expand an existing item’s details to edit its name or note and link it to your equipment inventory.
Adjust quantities, calories, carbohydrates and mass. Separate Day 1, camp and Day 2.

Import a GPX track, then use an optional terrain lookup to see the real hills and valleys.
The GPX stores your path. With your permission, Electric Atlas can request ~260 sampled terrain heights from Open-Meteo (Copernicus GLO-90, approximately 90 m resolution). Route sample coordinates are sent to this external service only when you tap Generate. An internet connection is required for the lookup.
The DEM profile is a terrain model, not surveyed track elevation. OS Maps' GPX-reported ascent stays separate and is not overwritten by modelled climbing. This lookup does not verify route safety.
Tap your route on the map, drag the green stop marker, or use the slider. The map and elevation chart stay linked. Camp candidates are personal planning notes, not validated or permitted campsites.
The default line is a schematic illustration, not an actual elevation trace.
Tap or drag across the chart to select a point. Generate terrain elevations above if the GPX lacks point heights.
Tap near the route to choose a camp split. Drag elsewhere to pan. A map shows position, not ground suitability.
The climbing split will use the saved terrain profile if available; otherwise ascent is divided proportionally by route distance.
GPX import reads track coordinates and any per-point heights. For OS Maps exports without point heights, the app uses OS Maps’ reported total ascent. You can separately generate an approximate terrain-elevation profile using the online service above. No weather, water sources or campsites are verified.
Carbohydrate targets and water plans respond to your route and carried supplies.
One complete view per day or camp, automatically updated from your Food Builder.
All assigned food for the selected stage is visible. Times are illustrative meal windows, not timed reminders. Review the allocation against your walking pace, conditions and tolerance; keep perishables safe.
Compare your live choices with lighter-food and extra-carbohydrate scenarios.
Actionable review flags, a readable snapshot and export options.
Switch projects. Reuse your owned equipment and favourite foods. Back up or sync your workspace.
Saved automatically on this device as you change controls. Create copies to plan different trips.
Keep reusable templates distinct from individual expeditions. Loading a library replaces the respective inventory only after confirmation.
A JSON backup includes all your expeditions and reusable libraries. Store a copy in a safe place. It can be imported on another device.
Works after deploying to HTTPS and configuring your own Supabase project. Not required for local use.
Cross-device sync is manual in v1.3, not automatic. Loading replaces local data after confirmation. Your Supabase project must have the supplied SQL schema and RLS policies.
This installable web app caches its shell for offline opening after the first HTTPS visit. Your entries are saved to local browser storage automatically. Local browser storage may be cleared by system settings or a reset, so export backups. For private cross-device syncing, configure Supabase and sign in above.
